Pumpkin Prize Punch (using dollar store supplies)

A few years ago, I came up with the idea to make a prize punch for one of my boys' parties. Since then, prize punches have become party staples for us. I have done party punches to match all of my boys' parties' themes, and today I am sharing a fun Halloween version. I love that you can make this festive pumpkin prize punch using inexpensive dollar store supplies.

To make this Halloween pumpkin prize punch you'll need: a piece of dollar store foam core, plastic cups, orange tissue paper, a glue gun, green card stock, and green curling ribbon.

Then:

Cut tissue paper squares slightly larger than the top of the cups. Fill the cups with trinkets, and then use hot glue to cover the tops of the cups with tissue paper. I use two squares per cup for added strength (and so the kids can't peek inside to see the prizes).

Next, you'll want to position the cups on the foam core (in a pumpkin shape), and use hot glue on the bottom of the cups to attach them.

Use glue to attach a card stock stem, and embellish with a bit of green curling ribbon (if desired).

Someone can hold onto the prize punch, or you can lean it up against a wall, chair, or tree. Then, kids can poke through the tissue paper to claim their prize.

I have been making prize punches for years, and they are always a huge hit with kids. I know my boys are going to love this Halloween version!

Simple Halloween Treat... for moms

For kids, Halloween is all about candy, but moms deserve a special treat holiday treat too. And after a night of trick-or-treating, doesn't every "mummy" deserve a glass of wine? How cute is this Halloween themed wine bottle?

It's adorable, AND it was super-simple to make. All I did was rip up some strips of masking tape, wrap the tape around the top of the bottle, and attach a pair of googly eyes.

I think this mummy wine bottle is festive and fun for after the kids go to bed on October 31st. It would also be adorable at an adult Halloween party.

Do you know someone that would like this not-so-spooky Halloween treat? Feel free to share this post with them. Happy Halloween!

Halloween Scavenger Hunt (with free printable)

Halloween is about more than candy. It is about decorating, dressing up, and having some fun. Today, I am sharing a fantastic Halloween scavenger hunt that you can share with your kids. It is perfect for a Halloween party, but it would be great for a simple activity at home too. And... you can download it for FREE below!

To download the scavenger hunt: right-click on the picture above, save it to your computer, and print it like a regular 8X10 photo. I printed mine at my local office supply store for $0.39.

You can send the kids out in the neighbourhood looking for the items, or you can print the cards (below) for an easier search. To download the cards: right-click on the picture below, save it to your computer and print it like a regular 8X10 photo. I printed mine onto card stock (for heavier cards) at my local office supply store for $0.48.

If the weather is good, I love the idea of making this an outdoor event.

Isn't this Halloween scavenger hunt a fun idea? If you use my free downloads, let me know.

Happy Hunting!

Vampire Teeth Treats (and free printable tags)

It's always fun for kids to have unique Halloween goodies to give to their friends, and today I am sharing a few adorable vampire-themed treat ideas. Check out these easy and inexpensive vampire teeth treats... and free printable tags.

Plastic vampire teeth are plentiful at the dollar store this time of year, and they can be used to turn a regular donut into a special vampire treat. You can package them up with a darling "A Sweet Treat to Sink your Teeth Into" tag. Cute, right?

I used Picmonkey.com to transform my son into a vampire and create some spook-tacular tags.

If you don't want to use donuts, you can just package a pair of teeth with a small "sweet treat".

These are the tags I designed using Picmonkey.

If you aren't feeling adventurous enough to create your own tags, you can use the generic tags that I designed. Just right-click on the picture below, save it to your computer, and print it like a regular 4X6 photo.

Don't you just love this simple Halloween treat idea? I think any child would be delighted to receive one of these vampire teeth treats.

Pool Noodle Witch Legs

If you read my blog on a regular basis, you know that I love DIY crafts using supplies from the dollar store, and Halloween is the perfect time time for dollar store inspired projects. Yesterday, I made these pool noodle witch legs, and I am super-happy with how they turned out.

Aren't they cute?  To make your own set of pool noodle witch legs:

1)  Cut a pool noodle in half and pull a dollar store sock onto each noodle.
2)  Glue a witch's shoe to the foot end of each sock. (I found these ones at the dollar store.)
3)  Put some floral foam in the bottom of a "dollar store caldron", and then stick two wooden skewers or dowels into the foam.
4)  Stick the open end of the pool noodles over the dowels.
5)  Use tissue paper to hide the foam.
6)  Add a dollar store sign (if desired).

I love how simple this DIY Halloween decor project was... and it looks adorable in my hallway.  What do you think of my pool noodle witch legs?

Printable Halloween Tic Tac Toe {candy free treat}

Candy is an inevitable part of Halloween, but it is always nice to have some candy free options for kids to share with their friends.  This year, I designed an adorable free printable Halloween Tic Tac Toe board.

Isn't it adorable?  You can print the boards for free and use buttons or coins to play the game.

This printable is set up to print like an 8X10 photo (with two game boards per sheet).  To print your own copies, right-click on the picture below, save it to your computer, and print like a regular photo.

I sent a bunch of these cards to Staples (our local office supply store) for printing.  I printed them on cardstock, and they look really great.

These are a fantastic candy free option for class treats or Halloween parties, don't you think? No need to worry about allergies with these fun Halloween Tic Tac Toe boards!
