Number Crafts {Number FIVE}... Teddy Bear Picnic

I teach a weekly class for preschoolers called "123 Learn with Me". Each week, we learn about numbers through a variety of activities and crafts. This week, we had some fun learning about the number five through a "teddy bear picnic" theme.

To learn about the number five, we decorated a number five coloring sheet, did some printing practice, made some bear ears, crafted a bear puppet, and snacked on teddy bear trail mix.

To make the bear ears:

1) Download the template for the ears (here), print it onto card stock, and have the children color the ears and cut them out.
2) Cut 1" strips of paper, tape them together to form a headband, and attach the ears with glue or tape.

To make the paper bag bear puppet:

1) Download the template for the bear's ears, snout, and arms (here), print it onto card stock, and have the children color and cut out all the parts.
2) Glue all the parts to a paper bag, and add a couple of googly eyes.

To make the teddy bear trail mix:

1) Print the recipe by right-clicking on the picture below, saving it to your computer, and printing it like a regular 8X10 photo.
2) Attach the recipe to a little picnic basket (or favor box or bag), set out the ingredients, and let the kids make their own trail mix.

Isn't this a cute way to learn about the number five I'll be sharing our crafts and activities for the number six soon, so don't forget to come back and check them out.

Number Crafts {Number FOUR}... Spring Flowers Craft

I teach a weekly class for preschoolers called "123 Learn with Me".  Each week, we learn about numbers through a variety of activities and crafts.  This week, we had some fun learning about the number four by crafting these adorable cupcake liner flowers.

Aren't they cute?  The kids were so excited to make crafts using their pictures.

To make these sweet flowers:

1) Gather up some large and small cupcake liners.
2) Glue the large liners onto a piece of cardstock.  Then, glue the smaller liners into the middles of the large liners.  Finish the "flowers" by gluing pictures of the children into the centres.
3) Draw stems and petals, scrunch up little squares of tissue paper, and use glue to cover the stems and petals with tissue paper.

To learn about the number four, we also did a number four search, colored a number four, and did some printing practice.

To download the number 4 coloring page and number search, right-click on the pictures below, save them to your computer, and print like a normal 8X10 photo.

Isn't this a cute way to learn about the number four I'll be sharing our crafts and activities for the number five soon, so don't forget to come back and check them out.

Number Crafts {Number THREE}... The Three Little Pigs

I teach a weekly class for preschoolers called "123 Learn with Me". Each week, we learn about numbers through a variety of activities and crafts.  This week, we had some fun learning about the number three by crafting and playing with the three little pigs.

We did some number three printing practice, decorated a number three with stickers, read a story about the three little pigs, and made two crafts.  Today I am sharing the tutorials for the crafts (including free printable templates).

To make the "Three Little Pigs" puppets:

1) Print the template and color the pigs' heads. To download and print the template, you can right click on the picture below, save it to your computer, and print it like a regular 8X10 photo.  Or you can download a pdf version of the template for the pig puppets here.

2) Cut out the heads.
3) Add googly eyes and a button nose.
4) Glue or tape a craft stick to the back.

To make "The Three Little Pigs" houses:

1) Print the template and color the houses. To download and print the template, you can right click on the picture below, save it to your computer, and print it like a regular 8X10 photo.  Or you can download a pdf version of the template for the Three Little Pigs houses here.

2)  Cut out the doors on one side and the top... leaving one side attached so the door can open.
3)  Tape or glue a piece of white paper to the back of each door to cover the openings.
4)  Draw pictures of the pigs inside the houses (behind the doors).

That's it!  Isn't this a cute way to learn about the number 3?  I'll be sharing our crafts and activities for the number 4 soon, so don't forget to come back and check them out.

Number Crafts {Number TWO}... Butterfly and Fish Crafts

I have started a Craft Club in my home for preschoolers, and we are doing different number crafts each week. This week, we are focusing on the NUMBER TWO, and we are crafting a butterfly (with two wings), two handprint fish (inspired by the Dr. Seuss book One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish), and a magic wand.

To make the fish:

1)  Download and print the template for the "One Fish Two Fish" craft, which you can find here.
2)  Trace the child's hands onto the sheet.
3)  Have the child color the fish, and finish by adding googly eyes.

To make the butterfly:

1)  Draw butterfly wings on a piece of card stock, and cut them out.
2)  Punch or cut holes in the wings.
3)  Glue tissue paper over the hearts.
4)  Attach a popsicle stick and googly eyes.

You can also add this little poem to the back.  To download a copy of the poem, right-click on the picture below, save it to your computer, and print like a regular 8X10 photo.

To make the number two magic wand:

1) Draw a circle containing the number two and have the children decorate it and it cut it out.

2) Tape some ribbon and a paper straw to the back.

Making a duck out of a "number two" is another adorable craft for Preschoolers. Color a two, and then add a feather wing, an eye, a head, and a beak. Cute, right?

We also did some printing practice, and used a stamp to "stamp out" the number two.

I think these number crafts are adorable, don't you?  I'll be posting some crafts and activities for the number 3 soon!

Number Crafts {Number ONE}... Spring Bird Craft

I have started a Craft Club in my home for preschoolers, and we are doing a different number craft each week.  This week, we are focusing on the NUMBER ONE, and we are crafting an adorable bird for spring.

Isn't it sweet?  To make your own bird craft:

1) Cut a circle from a piece of white card stock.  (I traced a small plate.)

2) Glue small squares of tissue paper onto the circle, allow to dry, and add googly eyes, an orange triangle beak, and a feather.

3) Punch a hole in the top of the bird, add a piece of ribbon, and attach a "number one" poem to the back.

To download a copy of the poem: right click on the picture below, save it to your computer, and print it like a regular 8X10 photo.

I love how sweet and cheerful this little bird is.  It is simple to make, and it is fun way to learn about the "number one".

Here are a few other ways to learn about the number one:

Make a Cheerios bird feeder in the shape of the number one, practice printing the number one, decorate the number one with crayons, and/or use stamps or Q-tip painting to make the number one.

I hope you enjoy my first number craft.  I will be sharing a cute craft for the "number two" soon!
