Alphabet Crafts - Letter Z

Last week my youngest son and I completed the last craft in our "crafting our way through the alphabet" adventure.  We made an adorable Zebra mask (from a paper plate), and we did a little letter Z printing practice. Keep reading to check out all the fun letter Z alphabet crafts and activities.

To make a zebra mask:

1) Cut two "eye holes" from a paper plate.
2) Cut a strip of black construction paper for the mane, and cut slits 3/4 of the way down the paper.
3) Cut a round circle from a piece of black construction paper. Glue mane and snout onto the paper plate.
4) Cut ears from a piece of cardstock. Color the inside of the ears pink.
5) Draw zebra stripes with a marker, and color them in with a black crayon.
6) Glue two pink buttons onto the snout.
7) Allow all the glue to dry, and then tape a popsicle stick onto the back.

After our craft, we did a little printing practice. If you want to practice printing the letter Z with your little one, right click on the picture below, save it to your computer, and print it.

Looking for more "letter Z" crafts? I love this "letter Z zebra", don't you? Start with a Z and then glue on stripes, a nose, an ear, a googly eye, and a yarn mane.

And this "Z is for zoo" craft is simple and fun. Draw a cage, and have the little one add some zoo animal stickers.

That's it!  We have finally completed our 26 alphabet crafts.  It was a really fun project for my little guy and myself.  Have you made any of my alphabet crafts with your child?

Alphabet Crafts - Letter Y

My youngest son and I are "crafting our way through the alphabet", and today we had some fun with the Letter Y.  We did a Yarn craft, made a yo-yo, and did a little Letter Y printing practice.

To make the yarn sewing card:

1) Cut a "Y" shape from a cereal box or other piece of thin cardboard.
2) Use a hole punch to make holes around the perimeter of the shape.
3) Attach a piece of yarn to a piece of pipe cleaner, and use the "needle and thread" to weave the yarn around the shape.

Then, to make a water balloon yo-yo:

1) Take a normal size balloon (not a water balloon) and add a small amount of water.
2) Tie the end of the balloon.
3) Add an elastic band to the end of the balloon.
4) Start "yo-yo"ing!

After our craft, we did a little printing practice.  If you want to practice printing the letter Y with your little one, right click on the picture below, save it to your computer, and print it.

Looking for more letter Y crafts? Check out this adorable "y is for yo-yo" craft. Trace the child's hand and colour it. Then, use glue to attach two circles and a piece of string.

You could also ball up tissue paper and glue it to a "Y" to make this "y is for yellow" picture.

And how cute is this "y is for yawn or yell" picture that allows kids to practice their scissor skills? Start by colouring an oval on a sheet of paper. Then, use glue to attach a black mouth, a pom pom nose, and two googly eyes. Finish by using scissors to cut paper to make hair, and attach the hair to the paper with glue.

Fun, right? Next up, the letter Z.  I can't believe we have almost finished our "crafting our way through the alphabet" adventure!

Alphabet Crafts - Letter X

We took a short summer break, but we are now finishing up our "crafting through the alphabet" adventure.  Yesterday, we made a Xylophone craft and did some letter X printing practice.

To make a paper xylophone:

1) Cut strips of construction paper in various colors, and have the child cut the strips into smaller and smaller sizes.
2) Glue the strips onto a piece of cardstock.
3) Glue a couple of pom poms onto coffee stir sticks to create xylophone mallets.

Cute, right?  After our craft, we did a little letter X printing practice.  To practice writing the letter X with your little one, right click on the picture below, save it to your computer, and print.

Looking for some more "letter X" crafts? How cute is this "X marks the spot treasure map? The child can draw and colour a map and add fun pirate stickers.

A personalized "X is for x-ray" craft is another cute way to learn about the letter x. Cut up Q-tips for bones, and add an adorable photo for the face.

Turning an "X" into an x-ray with crayons, glue, and q-tips is another simple craft that kids will enjoy.

Fun, right? Next up... the Letter Y!

Alphabet Crafts - Letter W

My 4 year old and I are getting close to finishing our "crafting our way through the alphabet" adventure.  Yesterday we made a Windsock craft and did some Letter W printing practice.

To make a wind sock:

1)  Color a piece of white card stock.
2)  Roll the card stock into a tube, and tape in place.
3)  Punch some holes in the top of the tube, and add a pipe cleaner handle.
4)  Tape strips of tissue paper to the bottom of the tube.

Cute, right?  I think this is a great summer craft.  My little guy had a fantastic time running around the yard... and telling me which way the wind was blowing.

After our craft, we did a bit of printing practice.  To practice writing the letter W with your little one, right click on the picture below, save it to your computer, and print.

Interested in more "letter w" crafts? With some construction paper, crayons, scissors, glue and googly eyes, you can easily make this "letter W walrus".

How cute is this worm made of Cheerios? Twist the end of a pipe cleaner into the shape of a head, and glue on two googly eyes. Then, have the child thread the Cheerios onto the pipe cleaner, and when the child is finished, twist the end to secure the Cheerios.

Fun, right? Next up, the letter "X"!

Alphabet Crafts - Letter V

My 4 year old and I are continuing to craft our way through the alphabet, and yesterday we had some fun with the letter V.  We made a Vase craft (with thumbprint flowers), and we did some letter V printing practice.

To make the vase craft:

1)  Draw a simple vase shape on a piece of paper.
2)  Color the vase.
3)  Use paint to make "thumbprint" flower petals.
4)  Add stems and leaves to the flowers (with crayons), and glue buttons onto the centre of the flowers.

Cute, right? After our craft we did a little printing practice. If you want to practice printing the letter V with your little one, you can right-click on the picture below, save it to your computer, and print it.

Interested in more "letter v" crafts? Check out this simple "letter v" volcano. Draw a letter V and add some lines to make a volcano. Then, scrunch up bits of tissue paper, and glue them onto to the paper to create lava.

V is also for Valentine's Day, so you could add heart stickers to a V.

And, this "v is for vase" craft could not be cuter. Decorate a vase shape, and make a flower using cardstock, crayons, a picture of the child, and paper straw stem (secured with tape). Cut a couple of slits above the vase, and insert the flower. I love this one!

Fun, right? Next up... the Letter W!

Alphabet Crafts - Letter U

My 4 year old and I are continuing to craft our way through the alphabet, and after today, we only have 5 letters left!  This time, we made a paper plate umbrella craft, and we did a little letter U printing practice.

To make the paper plate umbrella:

1)  Cut a paper plate in half, paint it, and allow it to dry completely.  (You can also add some "scalloping" at the bottom, but this step is optional.)
2)  Glue the paper plate to a piece of paper.
3)  Draw a handle on the umbrella.  (My son insisted on using a pipe cleaner, but it takes a lot of glue to make it stick.  I think drawing it is easier, but I leave it up to you!)
4)  Crumple up bits of tissue paper, and glue them onto the paper to make raindrops and puddles.

Cute, right?  After our craft we did a little printing practice. If you want to practice printing the letter U with your little one, you can right-click on the picture below, save it to your computer, and print it.

Want to make more "letter u" crafts with your Preschooler? Check out this sweet underwater scene. Start with a "U" and colour it blue. Then glue on some seaweed and add some underwater stickers.

And how sweet is this "letter U" unicorn? Start with a U, colour it, and add a unicorn head and feet. Then, glue on a googly eye and a yarn tail.

Fun, right? Next up... the Letter V!

Alphabet Crafts - Letter T

My 4 year old and I are continuing to craft our way through the alphabet, and yesterday afternoon we had some fun with the letter T. We made a turtle puppet from a paper plate, and we did some letter T printing practice.

To make this turtle puppet:

1)  Cut a paper plate in half.
2)  Paint the paper plate yellow.
3)  Use a cotton ball to add green dots to the turtle's shell, and allow to dry completely.
4)  Cut a head, 4 legs and a tail from green construction paper, and tape to the back of the paper plate.
5)  Tape a craft stick to the back of the turtle.
6)  Glue on a googly eye, and draw on a mouth.

That's it! Isn't it a cute little craft?

After our craft, we did a little printing practice. If you want to practice printing the letter T with your little one, you can right-click on the picture below, save it to your computer, and print it.

Looking for more "letter T" crafts?

Try turning a "T" into a tree. Colour the trunk brown, and glue on scrunched up squares of tissue paper to create leaves.

This scrapbook paper turkey is another sweet and simple letter T craft. Cut a square of scrapbook paper, and glue it to a piece of cardstock. Add some heart feathers, a beak, and a heart wattle under the beak. Finish by gluing on a googly eye and drawing some feet. This would be a darling Thanksgiving craft too!

And how much fun is this paper towel roll train that stands up on its own? The children colour a train that is printed on cardstock and cut it out. Then, an adult makes it stand by cutting slits in pieces of a paper towel roll.

Adorable, right? Next up... the letter U.
