First Day of School Lunchbox Treat... with free printable tags

The first day of school is a special day that requires an extra special treat. This little lunchbox treat is perfect for a child's luncbox, and it is wonderful for kids to share with classmates too. I'm even sharing the "punny tag" for free for you to use below.

My kids love Fruit by the Foot, so I thought it was the perfect first day of school treat to include in their lunches this year. To add some extra cuteness, I designed a "Put Your Best FOOT Forward" tag to attach to the treat.

Seriously, isn't it cute? Who doesn't love a good pun?

To download the tags I designed for free: click on the picture below, right-click, save it to your computer, and print it like a regular 4x6 photo.

And it's simple to make a bunch to share with friends and classmates too!

Do you have a special first day of school lunchbox treat you like to share? I think these "Froot by the Foot" treats are simple and cute, don't you?

Lunchbox Treats, a FREE printable, and a GIVEAWAY from Dare

Recently, my boys and I were invited to test out the new nut-free Dare cookies featuring Wowbutter (which tastes like peanut butter but is totally nut-free).  I was excited at the chance to add some variety to my boys lunches, and so were my boys.

Each of the boys quickly picked a favorite.  My oldest loved the Wowbutter Wagon Wheels, my middle son chose the chocolate chip and Wowbutter Bear Paw minis, and my youngest really enjoyed the Bear Paws morning snack with wowbutter and strawberries.

My boys love the taste of these new snacks, and I love that they are a tasty source of protein with no artificial colours.  They are the perfect peanut-free addition to school lunch boxes, and they would be great for class treats and loot bags.

To make our new snacks a little more fun, I decided to design some cute lunchbox notes to attach to the "bear paws".  I think my boys will get a kick out of my little puns when they find them at lunch time.

To print your own 4X6 sheet of lunchbox notes, right click on the picture below, save it to your computer, and print it like a regular photo.  Then, cut the tags, and attach them to the treats with a stapler or tape.  Cute, right?

And... in addition to these free lunchbox notes, I have another treat for you today... a chance to win a Dare Prize Pack (ARV$75).  This prize would definitely make packing lunches a little easier!

To enter for a chance to win Dare cookies, lunchbox containers, an ice pack, a water bottle, a lunch bag, a backpack, and a $25 Visa/Mastercard gift card, simply leave a comment below letting me know which of these Wowbutter treats from Dare would be a favorite in your house.  (Don't forget to leave me your email address if you don't have one linked to your profile) so that I can contact you if you win.  This contest is open to Canadian residents and closes Monday, September 22, 2014.  WINNER: Andrea - "Bears Paws are a staple in our house, and this is great!! School is starting in a few weeks, so I thought it would be fun to design a sheet of lunch box notes for my boys.  The messages are simple, but they are important, and I know by boys will love them.

Lunch Box Notes

My oldest son is in grade one, and sometimes I think he feels left out of the fun I have at home with my younger two boys. One way I try to brighten his day is by putting little notes in his lunch box. I think it reminds him that we are thinking about him when he is at school.

Note:  My little guy doesn't eat much lunch.  I am not starving him.  I promise.  :-)
Here are 5 of my favorite "lunch box note" ideas:

1) Make your own notes. A fun little "post it" with a note from mom will make your little one's day. It really doesn't have to be fancy... just heartfelt. :-) I made my own on my computer (an easy to print black & white version with the option of adding your own sticker). If you want a copy, you can download it here.

2) Use print-your-own "fill in the blank" notes. I really like these notes from Make and Takes. They are both free to download and are super cute.

3) Use print-your-own "joke" cards. Here is a cute "free" version from Darling Doodles. My son loves these jokes and sharing them with his friends.

4) Send a picture. A picture says a thousand words, and a picture in his lunch will remind your little one about his/her family or a fun time you shared together.

5) Purchase pre-printed notes. These ones from Little Jots are sweet. I love that they come with "hug" and "kiss" stickers.

These are my ideas for lunch box notes, but I would love to know yours. What do you do to make your little one's lunch a special part of his/her day?
