Our Elf on the Shelf ("Elfie") arrived on December 1, and he brought a special gift for the boys... Magic Elf Seeds. {Tiny cookie decorations in the shape of Christmas trees.} What is more exciting this time of year than a little Christmas magic???
Our sweet Elf on the Shelf also brought this letter from Santa -- directly from the North Pole. Isn't it darling? (You can find some fun stationary here.)
The letter contained this poem (which you are welcome to use, but please don't reprint it without written consent from me):
Plant in sugar,
Sprinkle with snow,
Wait for the magic,
And see what will grow. *(copyright East Coast Mommy)
Of course, we followed the instructions in Santa's letter, and we planted our seeds in sugar (and sprinkled them with icing sugar aka "snow").

And see what will grow. *(copyright East Coast Mommy)
Of course, we followed the instructions in Santa's letter, and we planted our seeds in sugar (and sprinkled them with icing sugar aka "snow").
And look what happened while we were sleeping. They grew into cookie pops!
Don't you just love the magic of Christmas with little ones? I am treasuring these years with my sweet little boys. I hope Elfie brings Magic Elf Seeds next year!
♥

Oh Gina, thank you for always having such great ideas. I am not a "creative" Mommy and really appiciate all the wonderful ideas you share with the world. We just picked up an Elf on the Shelf and he will make his first appearance tomorrow morning. I'm sure our Elf (no name yet) will be as sweet and thoughtful as Elfie.

ReplyDeleteLove this idea! This is going to be our first FULL year with Melodie and I'm going to use this idea for when Melodie arrives in a few days :) I would like to know what the trick is to getting them to stay on the sticks?

DeleteSorry i am not sure how to do a lot of this.
I just used "sucker sticks". They were fine in the oven because the cookie baking time was short. I have done it a couple of times. Just keep an eye on them. :-)

Santa's letter says "sprinkle with snow"...did you do that? I live in Texas and don't have snow...maybe we could use powdered sugar that the elf brings or something...
ReplyDeleteThat's what we did. :-)
DeleteIf you look, you'll see a little bag of powdered sugar in the picture.
Would you give detailed info on what to do for the elf seeds.. I would love to do this.. Thank you for such clever ideas... Email address is pchgrl64@rocketmail.com
ReplyDeleteI just love, love, love this idea! I am definitely going to do something like this for my little girl this Christmas! I would like your permission to feature this idea on my blog. (With a link to your site of course.) I just started blogging now that I am recovering from thyroid cancer. Check out my blog at http://mylifeoverflowingks.blogspot.com/
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Kimberly. It is one of my favorite ideas. :-)
DeleteYou are more than welcome to feature it. You can use one picture, a teaser line, and link back to my site.
Good luck with your blog!
Gina
My kids loved this!! Thank you for a great idea. I found the "elf seeds" at Michael's.
ReplyDeleteI normally don't like the Elf on a Shelf ideas I've seen, but this is way too cute! Such a fun idea!
ReplyDeleteOMG too cute! Would love to do this with our little guy ~ thanks for sharing this idea.
ReplyDeleteThank YOU for taking the time to leave such a sweet comment. :-)
DeleteHave you done the reindeer food? Take a paper bag put 1/2 cup oatmeal and some glitter have the kids go out after dark and sprinkle the Deer food on the ground. In the morning when they go out to see if the deer food was eaten all that is there is the glitter! Magic for the little ones. Merry Christmas.
ReplyDeleteIt is one of our Christmas Eve traditions... except we use colored sugar instead of glitter because it is safer for the birds. :-) http://eastcoastmommyblog.blogspot.ca/2012/12/christmas-eve-traditions.html
DeleteHow do we get consent for the poem
ReplyDeleteYou are welcome to use it for personal use. Is there something else you wanted to for?
DeleteWhat a great idea! Looking forward to making Magic Elf Seeds with my family again this Christmas! Elfie xo
