I am NOT a Supermom

Since I started this blog in April 2011, I have had some people call me a "Super Mom".  For the record, it isn't true.  I am like most moms out there.... I am a hard working mom trying my best to create a good childhood for my boys.

The boys who inspire me to be the best mom I can be.

The intent of this blog is NOT to prove that I am better than anyone else or make anyone feel bad.  In fact, my goal is to  inspire and support other moms.  I know being a mom is a tough job, and I want to take this opportunity to thank all the  moms out there who support and inspire me.

That being said, I thought I would share this list with you:

5 Things about me that are NOT "Super"

1)  Most days, my beds aren't made.

2)  My laundry is out of control, and I sometimes dress my kids in clothes directly out of the dryer.

3)  I don't dust, vacuum, or clean my floors often enough.

4)  I buy clothes that don't need to be ironed (because I am terrible at ironing).

5)  My brain has turned to mush.  (I graduated Cum Laude from University, and now I call my boys by the wrong names on a regular basis.  Can you blame "baby brain" when your youngest is 2 1/2?)

Now that I have that off my chest, I am going to go sneak a cookie while my boys are finishing their lunch.  Is it too late to add "I eat too many cookies" to the list???

  1. Love it Gina. It sounds just like me. With 3 girls of my own and 2 boys I babysit full time, I never have time to make beds or dust. My floors get done once a week and I often dress my kids from clothes right out of the dryer. If something is wrinkly it goes in the dryer for a few minutes. I am great at keeping up with laundry but terrible at finding time to put it away. My husband always jokes and says how I am great at starting stuff but never finishes it...that mostly referring to laundry and dishes. My dishes get done everyday but sometimes I let them drip dry...lol. Anyways, all in all thanks for sharing that. It makes me feel like I am not alone!!!

  2. The best thing about clothes out of the dryer is that you don't have to fold them or put them away. Efficiency is what I would call that!!! I eat the chocolate chips before I bake the cookies and then don't usually have any left when it is time to bake!

  4. I'm great at washing and drying my laundry, but it stops there!! If you could see my "mountain" of clothes waiting to be folded you'd faint!! Wrinkles usually fall out of kids clothes after an hour or so!! Staying at home to be a full time Mom is new to me, and let me just say I have NEVER worked as hard as I now do...it just doesn't stop! I really enjoy following you!!

  8. I just found your lovley blog. I am a mommy of 2... not so little boys,17 and 13. I spend the first 16 and 1/2 years of their lives play, crafting, exploring, reading and loving every minute of their childhood. I always had laundry, dust, sticky floors and stains on my shirts. They are well rounded, kind, caring young men. I recenty went back to school for my "2nd carear" choice. The memories we make with our children are worth all the unfolded laundry and sticky floors. I have added your blog to my faves list. Thank you for sharing your live with the rest of us.

  9. To battle the mountain of laundry I heard of this creative idea...on sunday nights pile all of the unfolded laundry in middle of the floor. Tell each child they must find their own clothes and fold them. When everyone is done they get a treat (i.e. candy, dessert or a family game night). It helps mom get a treat of not having to fold and put away all that laundry!

At my house I turned a downstairs closet into a laundry closet so I don't have to carry all those loads of laundry upstairs. I make the hubby and son do it themselves.

My sister went a set further and had hanging rods installed in her laundry roomj and turned it into a family closet. All laundry goes from the dryer to a hanger. It very untraditional, but it solves her problem of the mountain of laundry covering her sofas!

  11. Those things are not bad. Making your bed actually encourages more dust mites by trapping in moisture which comes from your skin while sleeping. One of my favourite feelings is slipping into a shirt fresh from the dryer, all warm and cosy on a cold day. I wish I could just keep all clothes in the dryer and have that every time I get dressed.
